In January of this year, Priscilla was diagnosed with AML (acute myelogenous leukemia). Her cancer is an aggressive form of the disease and had spread extensively when she presented for care. Her initial treatment course was very complicated and she suffered from numerous complications including blood clots, intracranial bleeding, infections and more. After 4 cycles of therapy, and much work to regain her strength, she was fortunate to obtain a stem cell transplant at Dana Farber in April. In total she has spent 53 nights in the hospital this year. Thanks to the care she received at Central Vermont Medical Center, University of Vermont Medical Center, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/ Mass General Brigham her leukemia is now in remission.
Throughout this experience our family has been overwhelmed by the support we've received, from people near and far, people we are close to and people we barely know. We've received help caring for our children, meals, gifts, kind words and letters of support, and countless other items or acts of kindness. If there is one bright spot in all of what has happened, it is the understanding and receipt of all the love that has surrounded us.
We're walking to celebrate Priscilla's improving health, and to raise funds and awareness for cancer treatment. Please consider donating to this cause, or joining our team and committing to fundraising and walking with us!
