WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

Lee Yniguez Taylor inspires us every day with her love, strength, energy and spirit and her persistent commitment and dedication in being her best as our daughter, sister, wife, mom, aunt, cousin and friend, as well as student, athlete, coach and finance/marketing professional.  She lost her battle to stomach cancer fifteen years ago and every day she is in our hearts and minds and she is dearly missed.

In 2018, we started our team, Lee's Heroes,  to raise awareness and funds for cancer patients at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, where Lee seeked a second opinion on her condition.  We chose our team name because she loved a 1965 sitcom "Hogan's Heroes" and the number  "2" on our team shirts was her jersey number on UConn's Varsity field hockey team 1986-1989.

We enjoy our walk remembering Lee and encouraging all cancer patients towards stronger health and care.  We enter our 4th year and by participating in the 2021 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way presented by Hyundai, our team is making every step count toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!  This year we will be walking our 5 K on UConn's campus, a special place to Lee.

Your support goes directly to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and compassionate patient care. Funds raised through the Jimmy Fund Walk enable Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.

We appreciate very much and thank you for supporting our team in the Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!

Love you all,

Ryan, Maria, Arlene
