WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

As Dana-Farber Information Services and Informatics & Analytics professionals, our mission is to nurture racial and cultural diversity by sharing our own stories and BIPOC supporting materials, and by raising awareness of and access to technical career opportunities to people of color.

Your support will go to the Dana-Farber’s Universal Access to Transportation for All Underserved Patients project, which will provide consistent, standard, proactive, affordable/free, and reliable access to transportation for DFCI patients and their caregivers.

Transportation insecurity impacts patients’ ability to adhere to medical recommendations and affects psychosocial well-being and medical outcomes. Transportation insecurity disproportionately impacts underserved communities—including those of lower socioeconomic status, and those identifying as racial and ethnic minorities. Transportation insecurity contributes to inequitable access to care at DFCI across both adult and pediatric populations.  Elimination of transportation insecurity as a barrier to initial and continued access to clinical care at DFCI is necessary to achieve DFCI’s commitment to providing equitable, inclusive care for all patients.

Thank you for supporting our team in the Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can ensure equitable cancer care to all patients!
