Bacon Academy will be participating in the Rally for the Jimmy Fund on Thursday March 26th, Opening day of Major League Baseball. The Rally for the Jimmy Fund raises money for the Dana Farber Cancer Research Center in Boston and is hosted by the Boston Red Sox. All money raised during this event goes directly to patient care and research that benefits all New England hospitals.
Since January there have been an estimated 20,300 new cases of cancer and 6390 deaths attributed to cancer in Connecticut. I hope that you will join me and others in helping fight for and find a cure for anyone that is affected by this disease.
On Thursday March 26th, please wear your favorite professional or college sports wear and donate to this great cause. The goal for this event is to raise at least $1000, which will go along way in help those in need. There is no small donation but I am hoping that students will donate anywhere between $2 and $5 to help further our cause.
As part of this event, if we raise the more than $1000, the 35 top contributors to our cause will be given an exclusive Rally for the Jimmy Fund Red Sox Hat.
Those using our online donation link will be eligible for additional prizes such as signed items or even Red Sox tickets.
If our school is one of the top schools in this event we could have visits from a Red Sox player or one of the 6 world series trophies.
On Thursday, March 26th, lets come together as a community, celebrate the sports teams we all love, and do some good for the community around us.
If you wish to donate online or share the link to donate please check the digital backpack or your email.
Thank you
Matt Parsons
