This will be my 9th Falmouth Road Race and each year I feel the same exhilaration as I join 10,000 runners at the start of the race in Woods Hole. Along the oceanside route we pass the Woods Hole lighthouse with the theme from Rocky playing, several musicians performing along the way and thousands of spectators yelling 'Go Dana Farber' and 'Go Barry'. Finally making it up the last hill and seeing the Finish Line is satisfying, rewarding and exhausting!
I'm running the Falmouth Road Race to honor my brother Billy who was an amazing person, husband, Dad, 'Grampy', son and brother. Billy’s favored charity was Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund so for me to combine my passion for running and the love for my brother is the perfect connection. Billy passed away from lung cancer on Dec 22, 2013.
Any donation you can make is very much appreciated.
Thanks, Barry
