2024 mark’s Falmouth Road Race 52nd running and it will be my 17th year running for DFCI/Team Bergeron. I am passionately running for loved ones that have battled and are Winning the Fight and a very dear friend who unfortunately lost his battle last November.
This year after careful consideration and respect for the incredible history of Team Lanzoni, the team has decided to honor the memory of the Ninety Nine’s beloved Mike Bergeron by renaming our team to “Team Bergeron.” Mike sadly lost his battle in November 2023 after a valiant fight and has since inspired us to forge forward to continue the battle.
I will always remember Mike as a dear friend, brother in arms, beloved colleague and caring comrade who would do anything to assist and support those around him in need. Mike was an avid supporter and a Huge part of the 99 team that has raised over $6 Million for cancer research and treatment for DFCI for the past 17 years. For those that knew Michael we ALL MISS him and this year is dedicated to Mike!
More Inspiration and motivation for me has been my Courageous Mom who battled breast cancer 3 years ago and my Brave 13-year-old Nephew fought Leukemia a few years back. Great News is that both are now cancer free and are doing much better today thanks to care and cancer treatment that they received.
Sadly, I lost my Dad much too soon, he was 52 years old and I was 19 years old when he died from Leukemia in 1987. Since then, cancer treatment and research has improved significantly, but not nearly enough!
