On October 21st, I will be running a 100Km course between Providence and Boston to fundraise for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The DFCI is an incredible organization that provides world-class care to cancer patients and invests in research to prevent and treat cancer. This research is especially important to me because of how it has affected those closest to me. This fundraiser is in honor and memory of my grandma, Janice who passed away recently after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. I hope to be able to honor her fighting spirit by raising money for research that allows doctors and researchers to help cure cancer.
The 100K race is the hardest physical challenge I have ever attempted, and I will be training over the summer and fall to prepare myself for this run. I am doing a little challenge every two weeks with you awesome people during my long runs to make a little game out of the donations and keep people involved in my progress. The top donor will be able to have me do anything during my run (within reason). Feel free to think of fun challenges whether it be wearing something funny, spell out your name in a route, or anything you want me to do to embarrass myself or make my run miserable. I came up with a few examples: wear ski goggles, repeats of heartbreak hill, or run to as many Dunkin as possible and eat a doughnut at each. I’ll leave that up to the winner every two weeks (who has not won before). I will try to document these challenges on Instagram for those interested
I will also have an “opportunity drawing” where you will have the opportunity to win from a number of handmade leather goods made by yours truly. More info will be posted when that is finalized!
I have mapped out the preliminary course here https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/172583219. The course is going to route from Providence to the start of the Boston Marathon and then I'll take the course to the finish line. If you have any interest in being involved by running or biking part of the course with me, being a support crew, cheering me on, or being there for the finish I would love that! Feel free to reach out if you do or have any other questions.
Thank you so much for your support! If you are able to, please donate to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to help those with cancer and to help further research to prevent and treat cancer.
