This summer I will be running the Falmouth road race as part of the unstoppable force that is team Adelia The Wondergirl. We run for a future where incurable pediatric brain cancer is a thing of the past.
Adelia is an 8 year old little girl, our neighbor, and incredible friend to my daughter Rose.
Last February, Adelia was diagnosed with diffuse midline glioma, a relentless form of brain cancer with no cure. In the blink of an eye —somewhere in between exchanging valentines and making leprechaun traps— this silly, creative, compassionate and absolutely brilliant little girl was handed a death sentence with 9-12 months to live.
After five brain surgeries and 63 radiation treatments, Adelia’s resilience shines bright. She continues to fight, crack jokes, and light up the lives of everyone around her. She is participating in a cutting edge CAR T trial and we hold so much hope for a positive outcome!
But the harsh reality is that experimental trials, like the one Adelia is enrolled in, remain the only treatment option for kids like her. It’s simply not enough. Adelia and her friends should be giggling at school, trading books, and dreaming about the future— not (unknowingly) battling against time.
Please support our urgent quest to fund a new Brain Tumor Center that will bridge Dana Farber and Boston Children’s. Together, we can accelerate the revolutionary research that is so desperately needed to find a cure.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
