This November, I will be running the New York City Marathon to raise money for pediatric cancer research, as part of a team formed by my friends Rachel and Andy. In March of 2020, Rachel and Andy welcomed their first child, Francesca (aka "Beans"). When she was six months old, Francesca was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain cancer called ATRT. After fighting for months, including for weeks on end at the Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, Francesca died that Christmas Eve.
Rachel and Andy formed the Team Beans Infant Brain Tumor Fund, which has raised more than $3 million for cancer research at Dana-Farber. They have done all of this while working two demanding journalism jobs and raising their second daughter. I would be so honored if you would help me meet my goal of $5,000.
