These last two months have been very hard, to say the least, for my family. In late February, both of my parents were diagnosed with cancer on the same week; my father who has severe Crohn's disease, has also developed stage 3 colorectal cancer, and my mother unbeknownst went in for an exam for abnormal spotting, was diagnosed with stage 1 uterine cancer. Dana-Farber has been treating both my father and mother for the past couple of months, and with their top-notch cancer care facilities, providers, nurses, and staff, I am confident they are going to win their battle against cancer. I believe the work that Dana Farber is doing is saving countless amounts of lives every day, and their work has certainly made an impact on the lives of my family as they go through this process. My parents are constantly mentioning that they are more at ease with going into their treatments as they are being taken care of by not only the most educated medical staff in the country in relation to cancer treatment, but by the kindest and thoughtful individuals they have ever met in any hospital setting.
I hope I can make a small difference in dedicating this year's Herring Run & Paddle race in Somerville to my parents, a bit of money in donations, and by sharing my family's story, I can help Dana Farber and their patients continue to thrive. Thank you for all you do for your patients and their loved ones, Dana Farber!
