This past October, Team Don't Stop Believin' participated in the Jimmy Fund Walk in support of my husband Doug and all patients and their loved ones affected by cancer. That walk was a challenge as Doug was still recovering from an intense treatment for his aggressive and stubborn non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, but it so worth it when we found out two months later that he was officially in remission! The treatment that made this last year possible was a new and incredibly complicated treatment that was only available thanks to the hard work and commitment of researchers and care teams like those at Dana Farber, and we are forever grateful that we benefited from this option.
This year I want to push myself to cover more distance in miles and in fundraising. So on August 18, I will join Doug and hundreds of Dana-Farber runners participating in the 52nd running of the ASICS Falmouth Road Race! I am training to run 7-miles along Cape Cod’s scenic coastline, while raising critical funds that directly support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute patients and families, in New England and around the world.
Every mile and each donation, no matter the size, supports The Dana-Farber Campaign, the Institute’s ambitious, multi-year fundraising effort, focused on supporting revolutionary research, extraordinary care, exceptional expertise, and other priorities, to help Dana-Farber accomplish its mission of preventing, treating, and defying cancer.
Thank you for your support! Together, we are helping Dana-Farber race toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
