"Go out and do something good for the world," were my mom's final words to me before she lost her battle to glioblastoma multiforme, brain cancer. When she was diagnosed it was too late. She was already at a stage four. Within 6 weeks of diagnosis, she was gone. I held her hand as she took her final breath on May 30, 2002.
I NEVER let my mom's final words go in vain. I take the pain I suffered with her loss and channel it into doing the very last thing she told me to do.
I am so excited to be raising money for Dana Farber. The excitement goes well beyond raising money to run the Boston Marathon. For me, it's an honor to have the opportunity to assist in providing vital resources for cancer research. No one should have to go through what I did on May 30, 2002. No one should have to experience the loss of a family member and no one should have to suffer through cancer.
