On August 18, hundreds of Dana-Farber runners, including myself, will participate in the 52nd running of the ASICS Falmouth Road Race! I am training to run 7-miles along Cape Cod’s scenic coastline, while raising critical funds that directly support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute patients and families, in New England and around the world.

My beloved grandfather Charles Mathys passed away last year on February 24th of bladder cancer and lymphoma. He was the light of every room he entered. He supported me thoroughly with each goal I set for myself; nursing school, jobs, road races, project ideas and everything in between. I miss him each and every day. He made me laugh on my worst days. I’m raising money for Dana Farber in his honor and for everyone fighting against cancer. Love you Big Charlie, this one is for you!
