Announcement that the Such Devotion team's 2021 fundraising is in memory of John.

For John Moretti, because a big tree has fallen.

In some cultures, when someone of status dies, they use the expression "A big tree has fallen" to capture the impact of the loss. Although John was a regular guy, not titled, or elevated, the impact of his loss has been far-reaching. A big tree has fallen, indeed.

I am walking in honor and memory of my husband, John,  who was diagnosed with Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia at Dana-Farber on Valentine's Day, 2019.  After the treatment prescribed by Dana-Farber, he was in remission from this lymphoma.  He subsequently was diagnosed with a cancer of unknown primary which took his life in December of 2020.

In years past, John donated to this very team to support his co-worker, Bob. I know John never expected his donations were supporting research that he himself would need in the future.  This year, the team is donating all of the funds they raise in memory of John Moretti.  This is such an incredible honor and I am so touched that they are doing this that I decided to join the team.

I would so appreciate your support of my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts in memory of John.  -- Diane
