Team Alicia is proud to be raising funds for Dana Farber to honor the memory of Alicia A. Figueroa Llinas (1968 - 2022). Alicia passed away in June after living for two and a half years with triple negative breast cancer.
Alicia is survived by her children, Patricia and Roberto Aponte, and her boyfriend, Victor Maldonado. Victor will be joined on this walk by Andrea Sonan and Amy Schneider, two friends and swimming partners of Victor who also have their own personal stories as breast cancer survivors. Victor will also be joined by family members, including some who will be traveling all the way from Puerto Rico just for this walk in Alicia's honor.
Victor, Andrea, and Amy's time together (and with their other teammates) in the water has served as a steady support through all of the challenges that cancer has thrown their way these past few years, and they are coming together along with family and friends in the hopes of making a significant donation in Alicia's name. They are walking in gratitude for all that Dana Farber's research, care, and support has done for Alicia, Andrea, and Amy, and with comfort in the knowledge that every dollar raised will give others like them more days to be with friends, to swim, to love, and to laugh.
