In just 12 days (October 3rd) I will be praying for a warm and sunny day, lacing up my sneakers and participating in my second “virtual” Jimmy Fund Marathon Walk. Yes, another 26.2 mile walk. This year I will be walking as part of Team Young and Strong. This is a group supported by Dana-Farber that offers mentorship, support and fun activities for people with cancer under the age of 45. I will be walking with and for my friend Jodie who, at age 34 is now a 5 year cancer survivor thanks to the medical expertise of Dana Farber’s medical staff as well as the support she receives through several of their programs like Young and Strong.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts with prayers for a safe walk or with a small monetary donation. Together, we can conquer cancer and make a difference in so many lives! If you have someone who you would like me to walk in honor or in memory of, send me their name and I will be sure to carry it with me on October 3rd. I will need all the support I can get and the more names that walk with me, the easier my 26.2 miles will be.
Rain or shine, heat or cold, sleet or snow……on October 3rd I will be out there walking 26.2 miles. That distance is like a grain of sand compared to the mountains a cancer patient and their family must climb on their journey through cancer treatments.
