This October, I will be walking 26.2 miles in my 4th Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk as part of Team Tara and our mission to create a world without cancer.
In September 2018, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and in an instant, my life as I knew it, was turned upside down. Any plans I had were immediately replaced with doctor's appointments and my calendar became filled with surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation treatments. A cancer diagnosis is terrifying and going through treatment is HARD. Yet, through it all, my team at Dana-Farber somehow made it manageable. They gave me and my family hope when we had none. The treatments for breast cancer that saved my life were not an accident, but the result of years of EXPENSIVE research. Without this my cancer diagnosis would have been a death sentence. This is why I walk.
I walk in support of every person who has received the devastating news of a cancer diagnosis. I walk in honor of every person who has lost their life or loved one to cancer. I walk because this fighting cancer is incredibly expensive. I walk because I CAN. I walk because Dana-Farber saves lives.
When you make a gift to my Walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge research and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts. Together, we can defy cancer!
