As many of you might know, back in 2011 my mother, Debrah Reney, past away from a rare type of cancer called a GIST Tumor. She was a patient at Dana-Farber, witch was the only place that not only gave care for people with GIST but worked on research to find a cure for it, since regular chemo does not work for this rare cancer.
They may not have been able to save her, however they did give her, me, and my family 2 more years. In those 2 years they never stopped fighting for her. Doing everything they could, not just for her but for us too. Even after she past they helped us with the grieving process, and her team of doctors and nurses even sent flowers to her funeral. And I know that’s a lot of small things, but the count, and add up! They are truly amazing!
“Since its founding in 1947, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has been committed to providing adults and children with cancer the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow’s cures through cutting-edge research.”
I’m running not only to honor my mother, but to help give back, not just to Dana Farber, but to the thousands of families they help. So that one day with help from Dana Farber, our community and you, we can end cancer!
Thank you for your support! ❤
