As most of you know, I was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma in May of 2013. With this type of cancer it was supposed to be a “typical” chemotherapy treatment. But as days turned into weeks that turned into months that turned into years.. my cancer was not responding. In fact, it metastasized into three different locations in my body. However, because I was being treated at the best cancer institute in the world- Dana-Farber, they fought long and worked so hard at trying to find the right treatment for me that would once and for all kill this cancer. My doctors and nurses worked tirelessly to get me into a single patient clinical trial in 2015. I started two different types of chemotherapy -one being a trial drug. I started in February 2015 and suffered tremendously for months until my body could not take anymore but all along I would have my tumor marker tests and my scans and things were finally improving! Although some days I felt like the side effects of this treatment would do me in, my cancer was finally responding! It was a pure miracle! I along with my team, fought hard to continue this treatment for as long as my body could withstand . We stopped treatment in October 2015 and I have been cancer free ever since! So now it is 2019, it has been four years since my last chemo therapy treatment! I wake up every single day with a grateful heart and I do not take one single thing for granted!
I literally would not be here if it were not for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute . They are the best team of doctors, nurses, researchers, medical staff and people on this Earth! I owe them my life! They gave my daughter her Mom back! (Almost as good as new) 😊
So I made a promise to myself that I would walk and raise money every single year for this cause. We must put an end to all cancers and we must help fund The very important programs, trials and work that this facility provides . Please join my team or donate what you can because every little bit helps !
This will be Kerri’s crew 7th annual Jimmy fund walk! We have collectively raised over $30,000 over the past 7 years for the Jimmy fund . And it is all thanks to all of you who support our team every single year ! I have seen firsthand what donations do for patients like me ! Hope to see you on September 22 !!
Thank you! With much love and gratitude!
