I am participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer! Our family, like so many others, has been affected by cancer. In 1990, our then 7 year old son was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. After 3 years of treatment he was and still is cancer free. A month ago our 38 year old son, Peter was diagnosed with an Astrocytoma. Yes, brain cancer. Once again we are in the midst of yet another battle. We are lucky to live in an area of the country where we have access to so many great doctors and medical staff who are fighting every day for our families and friends with these terrible cancers. Research is key! Every day they are discovering new and hopeful treatments that will kill off cancer. We need to keep to keep it going until the last cancer has no chance in our world! So I walk for Pete. I walk for Jon. I walk for Patti. I walk for Joanne. I walk for Aunt Shirley. I walk for Hondo. I walk for Miki. I walk for Toni. I walk for Wendy. I walk for Helene. I walk for Linda. I walk for Uncle Bob. I walk for Nana. I walk for Clare. I walk for Eileen. I walk for Paul. I walk for all of our family and friends who have fought and WON and especially for those who we have lost. I will remember them with every step so that they and others will benefit from the research and treatments of this wonderful facility.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Whether through a donation or a prayer, I am most grateful! Together, we can conquer cancer! Thank you-Beth
