WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

The Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer Center is among the first centers in the country dedicated exclusively to the care of colorectal cancer patients diagnosed under the age of 50. We understand that a diagnosis of colorectal cancer can be overwhelming at any age; for individuals under the age of 50, it can also feel quite isolating. As part of the Colon and Rectal Cancer Center at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center (DF/BWCC), our specialists provide expert care and support throughout all phases of diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship, knowing that young adults with colorectal cancer face unique challenges. We encourage you to visit our website for more information about what we do at the Center.

Support the Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer Center

Your support will help advance cutting-edge research and dedicated care provided to patients diagnosed under the age of 50 with colon or rectal cancer. Your philanthropy can contribute toward:

  • Supporting our groundbreaking research to understand why colorectal cancer rates are rising in young people, how to detect it earlier, and develop new and innovative therapies
  • Recruiting and mentoring post-doctoral research fellows dedicated to the Center’s research studies
  • Hiring dedicated staff for the Center, such as a Program and Research Coordinator and clinical and support staff, to help patients and their caregivers navigate their care
  • Developing new educational materials and programming, such as web and application-based support groups and educational opportunities aimed at connecting and empowering patients
  • Hosting the annual Beyond CRC Forum, a one-day educational conference for individuals with young-onset colorectal cancer and their supporters. The latest research and advances in treatment will presented, along with many other sessions on relevant topics such as nutrition and sexual health.
  • Hiring a Social Worker to address the specific psychosocial needs of younger adults and their caregivers
