On September 14th, I will be running in my 4th Boston Marathon as part of Dana-Farber’s charity running team (Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge). One hundred percent of all money raised goes directly to the Claudia Adams Barr Program at Dana-Farber, which focuses on innovative cancer research and treatment.
While cancer has touched most people’s lives at some point in time, it impacted mine before I was even born. My parent’s first child, David, was diagnosed and treated at Dana-Farber for neuroblastoma when he was just over a year old. He unfortunately passed away at 18 months, but the care he received at Dana-Farber was exceptional. This type of cancer is one of the cancers currently being studied in the Barr Program. Additionally, our close family friend Barry was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer several years ago. After struggling for 15 months, he passed away in May 2018. This year, I am running for both of these important people, and many others who should not have to lose their lives to cancer. Running helps me appreciate my own life, how lucky I am, and how I can give back to Dana-Farber in this special way.
One hundred percent of every dollar raised by the DFMC team supports the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These funds are fueling some of today's most promising basic cancer research.
Please help me reach my goal of $13,500 this year by donating today. Thank you for your support!
