September always means two things: the start of school and the Jimmy Fund Walk with Sam's Crusaders. Both are different this year, as you might imagine; still, the hope, energy and good will are the same. So we keep moving.
Recently I needed to find a "talking piece" as part of a virtual school activity. I grabbed the medal from the 2017 walk from my desk drawer. It served the purpose of the exercise: holding something of significance while I held the mic for a moment. It also served a greater purpose: sharing our stories, remembering that we do this for Sam and so many others like her and taking steps together towards greater understanding...and some day a cure for cancer.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk.
