I am participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer! I've done this walk several times before with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patsy and David. Obviously, this year has a different meaning for me. I've usually walked in support of loved ones who have battled cancer and have overcome it, or who continue to battle cancer, (Linda, Grandma Mary, Patsy, and Ebit, just to mention a few.) This year, I walk to honor my Jimmy who lost his short, difficult battle with pancreatic cancer this past January. When you support these fundraising walks, runs, and rides, you never imagine that you will lose your spouse to cancer. But, here I am asking for your support, so someday, hopefully, no family will have to grieve the untimely death of a loved one due to cancer. This year, the walk will be difficult for me, no doubt! But, it feels good to be doing something positive in Jim's honor. I'm thankful for Patsy who urged me to participate again. And, I'm especially grateful for Katie who designed the t-shirts (see link above) and is adept at social-media, unlike myself!
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families. Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
