This will be my 7th Falmouth Road Race and each year I feel the same exhilaration and enthusiasm of participating in this exciting event. Along the oceanside route we pass the Woods Hole lighthouse with the theme from Rocky playing, several musicians performing along the way and thousands of spectators shouting words of encouragement. It’s so motivating to hear shouts of 'Go Dana Farber' and 'Go Barry'. Finally making it up the last hill and seeing the Finish Line is satisfying, rewarding and exhausting!
I'm running the Falmouth Road Race to honor my brother Billy who was an amazing person, husband, Dad, 'Grampy', uncle, son and brother. Billy’s favorite charity was Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund so for me to combine my passion for running and the love for my brother is the perfect connection. Billy passed away from lung cancer on Dec 22, 2013.
