In 2024, hundreds of Dana-Farber runners will take to the streets to participate in the 128th Boston Marathon®. The Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team runs and raises funds with thousands of special people in mind. From Hopkinton to Boston, we carry thoughts of those people every step of the way.
As many of you know, Dana-Farber has a very special place in my heart for all that they have done for me, family and friends. In 2012, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After many appointments in CT to devise a plan, we went to Dana-Farber for a consult. I still remember standing in the hallway before leaving and Peter asked me "What do you think", I was nervous to reply, my answer was "I want all my treatment to be done here". The staff - doctors, nurses, registration - they all made us feel like we were the only ones there. They took their time, answered all questions, provided details and support. No matter what was happening in their day, they took the time to just focus on us. This was consistent throughout my treatments & surgeries.
Dana-Farber has been there for family and friends. Sadly, cancer has affected many friends and friends of friends. Every time we reached out on behalf of a friend, Dana-Farber responded within 24 hours or sooner to help our friends schedule an appointment and/or provide references for those living far away.
It is an honor to run for Dana-Farber - it is a way for me to give back to the organization that has given so much. Since 2017, I have run for Dana-Farber and with your help, we've raised over $100K for cancer research and patient care. On race day, each person's name is with me, I read the list at the start line and hold everyone near to my heart as I run each mile. Please consider donating, as noted below, 100% of every dollar raised supports the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research.
One hundred percent of every dollar raised by the DFMC team supports the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These funds are fueling some of today's most promising basic cancer research.
Thank you for your support! Together, we're headed toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
