April 17, 2023 was unlike any other Marathon Monday for Keith and me.
Past years we would walk the short distance from our home in Milford to the starting line in Hopkinton to cheer the runners off. But on that day, we drove into Boston to meet with an orthopedic surgeon who would diagnose Keith with osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer.
His treatment has included many cycles of chemotherapy, major surgery to remove the tumor from the left tibia, a custom implant to reconstruct his leg and intensive physical therapy. I have been amazed and inspired by Keith's strength while on this difficult road to recovery.
In Keith's honor, I have joined the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team to raise funds and run in the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2024.
One hundred percent of every dollar raised by the DFMC team supports the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These funds are fueling some of today's most promising basic cancer research.
I gratefully ask for your financial support so together we will reach the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
