I’m thrilled to be running my first ever marathon, the 128th Boston Marathon, for Dana-Farber Cancer Research. 100% of every dollar raised by the DFMC team supports cancer research and treatment, specifically The Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research.
This program supports new lines of research, playing an essential role in the development of early-career scientists who work on a broad range of research investigations that yield new clues about cancer. The program funds their most innovative ideas to propel basic research discoveries that transform cancer treatment. Program investigators have made tremendous advances and spearheaded breakthroughs that are improving survival for patients everywhere.
Dana-Farber has been an organization close to my family for years - my mom ran the Boston Marathon twice for Dana Farber, and my dad has raised $100K+ through his 24 PMC rides over the years.
Like most, cancer has touched the lives of many of my close family members and friends. Both my Uncle Chris and Uncle Mike passed away from cancer too young, each leaving behind their wives and three children - my amazing aunts and cousins.
Patricia White, my friend’s mom, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer just last year- while I never met her personally, I came to know her and her shining spirit through her daughter and my friend Meg.
My Aunt Karen is a brave breast cancer survivor; she motivates me to live life to its fullest each day and take on new challenges- she has certainly inspired me in my decision to run Boston.
Most everyone has been affected by this terrible disease in some way - which is why I am motivated and honored to fundraise and run Boston on behalf of such a great organization like Dana Farber to fight cancer.
I am determined to train hard through these brutal Boston winters, and hopefully exceed my fundraising goal- but I cannot do it without your generous support!
I am so grateful for any contribution you make towards my Fundraising commitment of $15K.
Thank you for your support! Together, we're headed toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
