Family & Friends - hope you are all well!
Cancer is one of those awful parts of life that impacts (almost) every family, forever leaving an imprint on whomever it touches. A brave unnamed patient once summed it up well: "F*ck cancer!"
But, luckily, huge strides have been made in cancer research and treatment thanks to the dedicated scientists and medical professionals making it their lives' work to conquer this insidious disease.
One of the leading institutions doing so is Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) in Boston. It is truly one of the leaders in this brave fight. (https://www.dana-farber.org/)
One option to support Dana-Farber is through the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge (DFMC), where every year hundreds of runners commit to raising money for DFCI by running in the Boston Marathon. This year, I have volunteered to be one of those runners on April 15 (Patriots Day, for those that live in Massachusetts).
This year, DFMC is aiming to raise $7.85 million through its runners, and I have committed to raising a small piece of that goal.
To that end, I would very much appreciate your support to help Dana-Farber continue its life saving work. No amount of support is too small, and every dollar counts.
I am deep into training (ran 13 miles yesterday) and things are looking good. I will keep you all updated as I go, and will follow up with periodic reminders between now and the Marathon. Sincere thank you in advance for your help.
And the course goes right by us in Wellesley, so if anyone wants to join the Pine Street party on Patriots Day (includes balloon arch, catered lunch and plenty of drinks), you are more than welcome!
Thank you again for your help.
All the best,
Pete
