Every step we take on the Jimmy Fund Walk is a step closer to a world without cancer. This year, I’m determined to make a difference by participating in the 2024 Jimmy Fund Walk.
My niece Stacey was diagnosed with Leukemia when she was 8 (in 1983), at a time when most Leukemia patients died within months of diagnosis. In fact, almost all of the kids diagnosed at the same time as her did in fact pass away. Thanks to Dana Farber, Children’s Hospital and the Jimmy Fund, Stacey was afforded treatments that in some cases were experimental at the time, but over time have become the standard treatments today that now allow for a far greater rate of survival (well over 90%). In Stacey’s case, she beat the odds and lived until she was 30 years old, when the years of treatments, and bone marrow transplants finally took a toll on her organs, and she passed away.
Stacey was the definition of positivity and passion. She never ever felt sorry for herself. She was all about family and became close with my family by babysitting my own children. That bond was extra special for my own daughter as it was the driving force for her to become a pediatric nurse practitioner and try to do her part in ensuring our children remain as healthy as possible.
Stacey will always live on in my heart and in her honor, I ask that you once again help me help them. You have been very generous in the past and not a penny of these funds are wasted. Most of us cannot possibly imagine the agony that goes along with a doctor telling you that your child has cancer – but thanks to these donations, that statement is now usually followed with but it’s treatable.
Your generous support will directly fund groundbreaking cancer research and compassionate patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. With your help, we can bring hope to countless patients and their families.
I’m aiming to raise $20,000 to support the Jimmy Fund Walk. Your donation, no matter the size, will make a significant impact. To contribute, please visit my fundraising page at
