My name is Ben Benjamin from Blackstone MA where I have lived all my life!
I am writing to tell you my experience with cancer and why I am participating in the Jimmy Fund Walk on October 6th
In August 2021, as a newly diagnosed renal cell carcinoma cancer patient, I experienced firsthand how important it is to get the best possible treatment based on the most up-to-date research, coupled with compassionate care. I was so happy to get both at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and develop trusting relationships with all the members of my cancer care team who have supported me over the past two years.
Getting cancer is hard, and it’s easy to feel frustrated by the lack of control. Helping to raise money for research is one way we can regain control over this dreadful disease. It also helps me bring more awareness to my specific cancer to so many people!!
I decided in February of 2023 to do the my first Jimmy Fund Walk and formed my own team, “Ben’s Warriors”!
By now again participating in the 2024 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, Ben’s Warriors is making every step count toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer. On that Sunday, as a small payback for what Dana Farber has done for me, my whole family will be participating in the Jimmy Fund Walk for Dana Farber Cancer Institute
