WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER
On October 6, 2024, my family and I will be participating in the 2024 Boston Marathon, Jimmy Fund Walk. All the money raised will be allocated to my doctor, Jennifer Chan, and her research fund for Neuroendocrine Cancer (NETs).
I am extremely dedicated to raising awareness for Neuroendocrine Cancer and helping in the fight against NETs. My journey started in the spring of 2017, when I was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine carcinoma thymic tumor. During my third reoccurrence, my local oncologist and I knew I needed to go to a larger hospital. In January of 2021, Mike and I went to Dana Farber and met Dr. Chan, GI Oncologist and the Clinical Director of the Neuroendocrine and Carcinoid Tumor Program.
Dr. Chan and her team are so knowledgeable, dedicated, and compassionate while helping me fight and better understand my diagnosis of NETs. It’s been a long journey full of ups and downs over these past 7 years. I have learned so much more about NETs, met so many amazing people just like me fighting this disease and learned to live in the moment (sometime this is hard, but I try). I am a fighter and won’t give up. I am so lucky to have a supportive and loving husband, two amazing boys and incredible family and friends that show me love each day.
Last year, I was able to raise over $8K and hope to raise even more this year. If you are able to join me and walk to fight cancer on 10/5 – I would love to walk alongside of you. If not, I understand and hopefully you can join me at future events. I appreciate all the support for my Jimmy Fund Walk efforts! Together, we can defy cancer!
