On February 27th, 2023, Adelia, a fearless 2nd grader at South Elementary School, was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor called Diffuse Midline Glioma. She was given a death sentence and 9-12 months to live. Adelia continued to fight after 4 brain surgeries, 63 radiation treatments, and countless other pokes, scans, and procedures. We lost sweet Adelia in May of 2024, and we continue to fundraise in her honor. With only experimental phase 1 clinical trials as treatment options, we need to do better for Adelia and all of the other children facing this monster of a disease.
The Team Adelia the Wondergirl fundraising efforts will go toward a new and desperately needed Brain Tumor Center that bridges Dana Farber and Boston Children's Hospital.
On August 18, I will be running on Team Adelia and we will run alongside hundreds of Dana-Farber runners in the 52nd running of the ASICS Falmouth Road Race! We are training to run 7-miles along Cape Cod’s scenic coastline, while raising critical funds that directly support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute patients and families, in New England and around the world.
Every mile and each donation, no matter the size, supports The Dana-Farber Campaign, the Institute’s ambitious, multi-year fundraising effort, focused on supporting revolutionary research, extraordinary care, exceptional expertise, and other priorities, to help Dana-Farber accomplish its mission of preventing, treating, and defying cancer.
Thank you for your support! Together, we are helping Dana-Farber race toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
