My mom and my Husband, these 2 people are the reasons I am going to run the Boston Marathon in 2025.
In 2021, my world was rocked when my mother was diagnosed with Leukemia. Luckily, she received life saving treatment for over 2 years at Dana Farber and is now in remission.
This past September, one week before our wedding anniversary, my 32-year-old husband was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Very healthy, he dedicates his time to the military and works as a flight nurse, transporting very sick patients to the hospitals in Boston so they themselves can receive life-saving treatment. All of a sudden we found ourselves on the opposite end of the healthcare landscape.
He has since started treatment, and we are lucky that he seems to have a good prognosis despite having a rare form of lymphoma. All of this to say, I want to run the Boston Marathon for Dana Farber because families shouldn’t have this type of history. Families shouldn’t have to continually be met with cancer diagnosis left and right. I want to run and raise money for research because I dream of a day where blood cancer doesn’t affect so many.
Thank you for supporting me for the Boston Marathon. I look forward to carrying my family with me on April 21st.
