This will be my first time running the Boston Marathon and I am so thrilled it will be with the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. DFCI holds a special place in my heart, as it has given outstanding treatment to both my sister in-law and my mother, the two women I look up to most.
Ever since my sister in-law, Kelly, was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017, it has been a huge goal of mine to run the marathon with Dana Farber in her honor. Kelly continues to receive remarkable treatment from DFCI and has shown my whole family indescribable strength.
This past January, my mother Dorothy was diagnosed with breast cancer. This struck deep - it almost felt impossible. My mom is the absolute GLUE of my family so you can only imagine how this affected us. If you know Dorothy, you know she puts everyone before herself. She is quite easily the toughest person I know. She was tough before the cancer - but she has since shown my family a new level of resilience. Despite her strength, she would not have been able to fight the battle she did without DFCI, making them my personal super heroes.
My mom and Kelly do the hard part - fighting cancer. I can only ask that you help make an impact by contributing a donation. Running a marathon may be difficult, but it could never compare to the difficulties of a cancer diagnosis. If it's not for Kelly or my mom, I ask that you donate for someone in your life that has been affected by cancer.
One hundred percent of every dollar raised by the DFMC team supports the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These funds are fueling some of today's most promising basic cancer research. Thank you for considering a donation, it means the world to me.
