This year I’m proud to be participating in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk as a virtual walker and fundraising as part of Team Wolverine to benefit Glioblastoma research.
Team Wolverine was formed in 2017 by Julie Wilson in the memory of her dear husband Travis. Julie has formed an elite team of fundraisers, and as a result 100% of funds raised by Team Wolverine goes directly to Glioblastoma research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Glioblastoma is an incurable cancer. The only thing that can change this is research. Lots of research.
Having spent many years in oncology drug discovery research, I know only too well how many years of dedicated and focused research are required to begin making a difference in a cruel disease like Glioblastoma. In research like this there are many dead ends, disappointments, and false starts. Avenues that look promising that just don’t pan out. Glimmers of hope that suggest researchers might be on the right track. It takes tenacity and perseverance to finally find a treatment that can make a real difference in the lives of patients.
My team includes brave wives who have been caregivers for their husbands through their journey with Glioblastoma. Their strength and tenacity is what keeps me going.
Please consider donating to help fight this disease
