As many of you know, I said last year was the only time I planned to run the “real” Boston Marathon. But after a challenging but amazing run last year seeing so many of my patients, friends and families on the course, I have decided to run again. Since last year’s marathon one of the patients who stood on the sideline cheering for me has lost her battle with cancer. She is just one of the too many children who have died from their cancer in the last 9 months. Funding is needed to continue to support ongoing life changing research and the money I raise will go directly to this groundbreaking research against cancer.
I am very excited and nervous to run the Boston Marathon in April. However, I know this challenge is nothing like the challenge my patients and their families fight every day.
I have had the privilege to see the difference advances in research have made in the treatment of cancer during the past 20 years, while taking care of children undergoing cancer treatments.
I run for a day when no children lose their battle with pediatric cancer.
