WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

An amazing client of ours lost her teenager daughter, Meghan McCarthy to Pediatric Brain Cancer over a decade ago. In 2022 we decided to participate in raising funds in her memory at Dana Farber. Her fund helps support research conducted by investigators in the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program at Dana-Farber. When Meghan was diagnosed in 2007, she was the only pediatric patient in the US with Glioblastoma. She was 1/10 pediatric patients in the world with Glioblastoma.  There was no treatment for pediatric patients, so she was treated as an adult would be. She had an inoperable brain tumor and was given the unimaginable news that she would have two weeks to two years to live. Meghan died on January 19, 2010 at the age of seventeen.

With the help of everyone who has participated and donated at our events, along with many other successful events from TMHS and the Pan Mass Challenge team, Flying Henry’s, the Meghan McCarthy Research Fund reached 1 million dollars in the fall of 2023. With these funds, as of Spring 2024, there is now officially an FDA approved treatment for pediatric patients with Glioblastoma.

We truly are helping to make a difference! Let’s keep it going
