Every drug must undergo clinical testing prior to joining the arsenal of FDA approved therapies. The EDDC is the largest phase 1 clinical trial program in the country, offering over 70 trials at a time and has aided in the FDA approval of over 15 drugs in its 12-year history. Every day, Dr. Shapiro and his team are investigating ways to improve therapies available to all cancer patients.
In recognition of this important work, Dr. Shapiro recently received the Targeted Anticancer Therapies 2019 Honorary Award at the International Congress on Targeted Anticancer Therapies in Paris. The award recognizes the significant contributions that Dr. Shapiro has made in the development of cancer therapies that are currently being advanced in clinical trials.
