Cancer touches all of our lives in some way or another. Whether parents, siblings, children, close friends, or colleagues etc., we all have our personal journeys of how this disease has affected our lives.
To support The Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute, on October 2:
I walked for my sister Dawn who lost her battle with leukemia at the age of 19.
I walked for my sister in law Ann who bravely defeated breast cancer.
I waled for my father Michael who lost his battle with colon cancer at the age of 68.
I walked for my mother Eleanor who survived colon cancer at the age of 71.
I walked for my sweet father-in-law Richard who bravely lost his battle this year with cancer.
I walked for Anne, a friend of a dear friend, who died of cervical cancer.
I walked for Anna, the niece of a friend who died of brain cancer.
I walked for Auntie Dot, Scotty, Jim, Dan and Nana.
I walked for Ken and Rob.
I walked for many close friends who have their own private battles with this illness.
I waled for the many, many people I have casually encountered throughout my life that have been directly affected by cancer.
And lastly, I walked for myself, who (4.5 years ago) at the age of 51 found myself on the receiving end of a Stage 4 Breast Cancer diagnosis. I walked for all people like me that either have faced or will face similar challenges and find the power within themselves to rise up and flourish under the formidable guidance of Dana Farber. Through the unsurpassed efforts with Dana Farber, we have found that there are always joys in life to share, memories to make, healing to unfold and dreams to be realized!!
So again, I ask that you please consider supporting me as I participate
d in the 2022 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk in taking the steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
When you make a gift to my Walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge research and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts. Together, we can defy cancer!
