I am participating in the 2022 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
Hi, My name is Christos. I am walking for my mom. She was diagnosed with Stage 3 HER2+ Breast Cancer in 2020. It was very scary watching my mom lose her beautiful hair. I would drive with my Yiayia and drop her off at her chemo treatments because she wasn't able to drive after her treatments. I wish that I could have held her hand. I gave her my favorite stuffed animal and a photo of me so that she would not be alone during treatment.
I watched my mom battle it, and although I didnt understand what was really happening, mom got me a goody bag that Dana Farber gave to her so that she could give it to me. It was a bag with goodies and a stuffed giraffe that I could talk to when I would get scared. She always made sure to tell me that she is a fighter and that she would beat it.
Even with all of her treatment she still had time to take me to my doctor appointments. I am a child with special powers so it just makes sense that she is my Superhero. Her hair is growing back and it makes me happy.
I am hoping that you can help me reach my goal. I want it to help other kids like me to help their parents to receive the treatment that they need. My mom plans to stick around for a long time.
