I am participating in the 2022 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, for my cousin Lisa and in hopes to taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
Team Hero Pup is named after my cousin’s golden retriever Bentley, who saved her life! Please read her story below.
“For those of you who aren't familiar with my story... in 2012 my golden retriever Bentley knocked me over and I hit my head. I ended up in the ER and scans to rule out a concussion showed a lime size tumor in my right frontal lobe. I had brain surgery followed by a year of chemotherapy. Upon completion, I transferred to Dana Farber for my care and monitoring. Without Bentley knocking me over April 25, 2012, doctors told me I wouldn't be here today.
Since 2012 I have undergone 3 brain surgeries, two rounds of brain radiation, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, and the opportunity to participate in a clinical trial. I am now living with the highest grade brain tumor Glioblastoma Multiforme. I am fortunate to be in the 5% of patients that live 5 years with this diagnosis.”
Thank you for supporting Team Hero Pup in the Jimmy Fund Walk! Together, we can defy cancer!
Donations will go directly to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge research and compassionate patient care. Funds raised through the Jimmy Fund Walk enable Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
