WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

Team Jeremy was formed by friends and family of Jeremy “JD” Schulz.  Jeremy is currently a patient at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. In January 2022, he was diagnosed with Cutaneous T Cell Lymphoma- a rare cancer that attacks the T Cells in the immune system.  Further testing revealed a Sezary Syndrome variation.  This cancer is aggressive and hard to diagnose.  It starts out in a type of white blood cell called a T-cell.  T-cells are usually part of the body’s defense against germs but, in this case the T-cells start attacking the skin and hair follicles.   He was told that his immune system was compromised and that he needed to stay away from crowds.  Unfortunately, he needed to stop working as he worked with people most of the day.  Until his diagnosis, Jeremy was proud of his work at Logan Airport and enjoyed being part of JetBlue’s Airport Operations team.  He looks forward to returning to work and seeing the many great people that work with him.

Dana Farber has provided amazing care.  Throughout his treatment at Dana Farber, all of the staff have been helpful, friendly, and responsive.  They show they care.  When we say “all of the staff”--we mean all of the staff--doctors, nurses, security, COVID screeners, schedulers, etc.

We are forming Team Jeremy for three reasons:

First, we want to contribute to the fundraising efforts for Dana Farber.  The Jimmy Fund raises money only for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.  Funds are split between its efforts in patient care and in cancer research for adult and pediatric cancer.  We want to help support these efforts–and help other people who are also being treated for cancer.

Second, we want to say thank you to the people who work at Dana Farber every day providing amazing patient care and conducting life changing research.  Your efforts give us hope and strength.

Third, and even closer to our hearts, we want to support Jeremy.  He knows that he has a large group of people who are there for him–rooting for him.  The messages and care packages and offers to help have been really helpful and uplifting.  We just wanted to formalize it.  We want Jeremy to know that he is not in this alone.  He has a team behind him that will help him and others.  If you would like to support Jeremy directly, please go to: https://www.gofundme.com/f/team-jeremy-jd-schulz?qid=47a5aa95b2173a9d6387d49730131e7d
