I run for Dana-Farber in loving memory of my beautiful mother, Ellen Hussey, who very sadly lost her battle to cancer in December 2022. My mom exemplified her resilience in every way imaginable, always keeping high hopes, even in some of the darkest and hardest points of her sickness. With pride, I run this race in her honor, and in gratitude for Dana-Farber, who provided my mom with the most exceptional doctors and resources while under their care.
Falmouth is a place that my family holds so close to our hearts because it's where my mom grew up. From attending Falmouth High School, to working in local businesses, she cherished this community. Later in life, she shared its joys with her family, which is why running these 7 miles through Falmouth reminds me of all the amazing memories we shared in her favorite place.
On August 18, hundreds of Dana-Farber runners, including myself, will participate in the 52nd running of the ASICS Falmouth Road Race! I am training to run 7-miles along Cape Cod’s scenic coastline, while raising critical funds that directly support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute patients and families, in New England and around the world.
Every mile and each donation, no matter the size, supports The Dana-Farber Campaign, the Institute’s ambitious, multi-year fundraising effort, focused on supporting revolutionary research, extraordinary care, exceptional expertise, and other priorities, to help Dana-Farber accomplish its mission of preventing, treating, and defying cancer.
