HOPE…It’s a Beach Thing
returns in the Fall 2022!

HOPE…It’s a Beach Thing is a 5K Walk/Run held in memory of Tim Beach, who passed away from a glioblastoma multiform brain tumor in 2012, at age 53. After his initial surgery, Tim was given three to six months to live, possibly a year with treatment. Through clinical trials and with the help of knowledgeable physicians, Tim outlived his prognosis, surviving 21 months. Most of these months, he lived with a high quality of life, enjoying major life events like his daughter’s engagement, son’s wedding, and when his future son-in-law asked for Tim’s blessing on a marriage proposal.

HOPE…It’s a Beach Thing was inspired by Tim’s passion for running and his love of the University of Dayton. Over the past nine years, the event has raised $489,000 in net profit for brain tumor research, led by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Dr. David Reardon. Tim’s family and friends HOPE that through brain tumor research, we will find a cure.

$52,000 RAISED IN 2020 and $489,000 RASIED IN 9 YEARS!

The 2020 HOPE virtual event was a massive success, raising over $52,000 that went directly to Dr. Reardon and his clinical research team at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Thank you for your incredibly generous support!

This research is critical for improving brain tumor patient outcomes, giving hope to cancer patients and their families. You all made this such a success despite the circumstances, and we are deeply grateful.

2021 looks to be an even more fun year for HOPE...It’s a Beach Thing, back in person on the University of Dayton campus.

We will keep you updated on the 2021 event details by updating this Dana-Farber website, via our website (where you can sign up for email notifications), and our Facebook Group.
